Saving at the Outlet

If live in Cypress, Texas then you have heard of Houston Premium Outlets. I wanted to take the time to share with you saving tips that maybe helpful before you decide to brace the crowds.

Here is a checklist I like to go through before stepping foot into the stores.
1.       Make a list and check it twice!
·         Keeping a list of what you need is always helpful; as most couponers know you stay on task and don’t give into impulse purchases. Keep it simple; basics never go out of style. You may not want to wear trends that are two years old and have already been retired.
2.       Knowledge is Power!
·         Compare prices! With today’s technology there is no reason not know the average price for something you want. Now that you have a list, check online with retailers what your favorite pair of black slacks goes for. According to Forbes sometimes you may not even find a different price, “Carter’s, the children’s manufacturer, sells its products in all locations at the same price.” You may even find that regular retailers sell it even cheaper or not. Check out these apps for your smartphone.

3.       Timing is everything.
·         If possible go in the morning, just when they open and on the weekdays.  I think we can all agree when the merchandise is thrown around it doesn’t look that appealing. Going in the morning guarantees the products will be nicely displayed making sizes easy to find.
4.       Stay in your lane!
·         Head towards the outer edges and the back of the store. It is scientifically proven when we enter the store we head down the middle. So that is where most of the higher priced or regular priced items are located. Go along the edges and then the back of the store for the sales and clearanced items.
5.       Inspect yourself before you wreck yourself!
·         I hate this step because I am so guilty of not doing this and immediately regretting it. TRY IT ON! Hello Captain Obvious! When you are at an Outlet Mall some of the clothes may be damaged and sometimes the only way to know this is by trying it on and making sure the fit is accurate.
6.       Do a double check.
·         If you have shoes, do you have both pairs; is there a right and a left shoe? Do you have the right size, is there a hem undone, do you have a complete set of something? What is the return policy?  Is there a warranty?
7.       Coupon Shoopon!
·         What, you think just because you are at an outlet there are no coupons to further your discount! Wrong! Houston Premium outlets offer free coupon booklets to their VIP members. Membership is free and easy if you visit the website beforehand!
